Senior Software Engineer - Java

How you should be?

We are seeking a skilled Senior Java Developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of secure, scalable, cloud-native web applications deployed on Microsoft Azure. You will work on high-availability SaaS solutions built with Java web technologies, following modern cloud architecture best practices including PaaS services, multi-tenant patterns, robust security layers, and automated infrastructure deployment. This role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership to deliver reliable, performant features in an Agile environment while ensuring compliance with security, reliability, and operational standards.

What you will do?

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Lead and mentor junior developers and cross-functional team members on best practices for Java development and Azure cloud patterns.
• Provide hands-on development to implement features, enhancements, and fixes with high code quality and adherence to architectural guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical mentoring sessions to maintain consistency and excellence.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and operations teams to align on design, security, performance, scalability, and deployment strategies.
• Support proof-of-concepts, technology evaluations, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Assist in sprint planning, task prioritization, and coordination as a technical lead or scrum facilitator.
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, code quality, security posture, and operational efficiency.

Core Development & Implementation

• Develop and maintain Java-based web applications running on Apache Tomcat, following MVC architecture patterns.
• Build and enhance backend services for multi-tenant and dedicated-instance deployments using Azure PaaS offerings.
• Implement secure file handling, document processing, and conversion workflows across Azure services.
• Integrate with Azure-native components including App Service, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Storage (with encryption at rest), Azure Front Door (for global routing and WAF), Virtual Machines (Ubuntu/Windows), and related networking constructs.
• Apply security-first principles: SSL/TLS enforcement, Network Security Groups (NSGs), micro-segmentation, encryption in transit, SAML-based authentication/SSO, and restricted access controls.
• Support automated, repeatable deployments using Azure ARM templates, Azure DevOps pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and diagnostics leveraging Azure Log Analytics, application logs, and platform metrics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the full application stack within defined SLAs, using Azure diagnostic tools and monitoring.
• Design and implement resilient, high-availability solutions capable of handling failures gracefully with minimal user impact.

Required Skills & Technologies

• Strong proficiency in Java (core language, web development, Tomcat/Apache server).
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (App Service, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Storage, Azure Front Door, Virtual Machines, Network Security Groups, Azure DevOps / ARM templates).
• Solid understanding of web application security (encryption, WAF, SSO/SAML, NSG rules, least-privilege access).
• Experience building multi-tenant architectures or secure SaaS solutions.
• Familiarity with MVC patterns, RESTful services, and secure file/document handling workflows.
• Proficiency in version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts.
• Knowledge of logging & monitoring tools (Azure Log Analytics or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex cloud and application issues.

What we are looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4–7 years of hands-on experience in Java web application development.
• At least 3+ years working with Microsoft Azure services (PaaS and IaaS components).
• Proven track record delivering production-grade web applications in cloud environments.
• Experience troubleshooting live production systems and meeting SLAs.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment with a focus on security, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure security features (Bastion, private endpoints, encryption standards).
• Familiarity with high-availability patterns (Availability Sets/Zones, geo-redundancy).
• Exposure to automated infrastructure deployment (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform).
• Knowledge of additional Java ecosystem tools or related technologies (e.g., build tools, testing frameworks).
