Project Brief

In association with the client team, our CMS development experts built a visually rich system with DotNetNuke. It’s a modern, scalable, and cost-effective system integrated with customized DNN modules. Customers can quickly access this website to explore all the information about available sports goods and the nearby outlets.

Client Background

The client is one of the leading manufacturers of sporting goods based in Dallas, with a diverse portfolio for various sports and recreational activities. Founded in 1986, they sell their products to several retailers across the States and have a large customer base. Their product line includes a range of accessories and equipment for team sports, individual sports, fitness and training, and outdoor and adventure.

Client Background

The Problem

Previously, the company used to work exclusively with big-box retailers to sell its products. However, with transactions mostly happening through the middleman, they had limited insights into consumer preferences and purchasing behavior.

So, our client decided to approach their consumers directly and create more brand awareness in the marketplace. At the same time, they also wanted to provide more information on their product portfolio to retailers through the CMS.

We needed to ensure the system had the right balance between direct consumer engagement and supporting retail partnerships. The content management system would not only display their product offerings, pricing, and availability, but also support consumer and retailer activities.

The Problem

The task at hand was to create a business-to-customer CMS that could support an extensive customer sales lifecycle. We needed to integrate multiple microsites while still maintaining an all-in-one website.

Platform Selection

Platform Selection

Based on our prolonged experience as a CMS website development company, we proposed Evoq Content from DotNetNuke as a good fit for the project. The client’s existing IT assets were .NET framework and Microsoft SQL Server-based and hence, using DNN seemed to be the right decision. The reasons were:

  • Building a tailored CMS with the capacity to support several web portals and a version control system.
  • Scalability of customized module extensions (free and paid) for implementing tailored functionalities.
  • Active development community for robust technical support through online forums and blogs.
  • Multi-user management system to assign custom roles and permissions, including social features.

The Solution

It only took us four months to get the CMS up and running with the core functions. For the micro portal, we spent around one month for each. The whole content management system development and integration process was really fast, leading to the following key outcomes:

Consulting and Planning

To have a smooth transition to a new system, it is absolutely important to have a foolproof project plan at hand for easy execution. Our team leveraged the power of technology with business-driven strategies and Agile project-focused planning.

CMS Design and Development

As mentioned before, we used Evoq. For the entire project life cycle, from conceptualization, migration, and support to upgradation, our team used DNN Evoq Content and its ready-to-use modules for dynamic website CMS design and development.

Document Management Systems

The CMS features a documentation page that shows end-to-end customer database. It provides an option to open in PDF format. The client team can store, manage, track, and share structured as well as unstructured data, such as white papers, datasheets, and product brochures.

Custom Theme and Plugins

In order to enhance the functionality and user experience, we customized the CMS using pre-built templates, skins, modules, and menu navigation. We also integrated paid DNN plugins for blogs, news and galleries, subscriptions, retail partner portal, etc.

Retail Chain Integration

Our CMS web developers integrated automated tools that consolidate consumer information and product specifications with the retail chain data. For example, the system synchronizes product catalogs with inventory status, provides consistent pricing and promotional offers, and facilitates the exchange of sales data.
